Mary Sette

Writer/Director + Cartoonist

I am a comedy writer/director, artist, and independent filmmaker living in Los Angeles. I combine slapstick humor, camp, & teen angst to create big silly comedies for the weirdos of the world. My work centers on weird-ass gender-fluid protagonists hungry for blood, cheese, and anti-depressants. Think if Daria took shrooms, Jane Campion made a sitcom, & Wes Anderson wrote about women. I am currently writing and illustrating my first graphic novel, HORRIBLE CORPSES, based on my hilarious teenage years as a suicidal wannabe goth — working as a script consultant on feature films and television shows currently in development, freelancing as an illustrator, and financing for my first feature film, SHARPIE. My teeny-bopper murder mystery and animated pilot, HOT TODDY, that I independently raised over fifty thousand dollars to produce, will be premiering this year. I've most recently worked as a Script Coordinator at Comedy Bang! Bang!, Writer's Assistant at Disney Channel, Director of Development at New Artists Alliance, an independent production company in West Hollywood where I led a team of creative professionals in development for over thirty projects in pre-production. I am originally from a small farm town in New Jersey known for its meatballs and regret. I am full of regret.
