Bio
Prem Santana is an award-winning filmmaker, veteran actor, and directing fellow graduate of the American Film Institute Conservatory. She is also a photographer and a painter. Premstar is her given name, but most people call her Prem which means love in Hindi. She is the founder of the Moonfaze Feminist Film Festival which ran for four consecutive years, showcasing and celebrating female-led films from around the globe. Currently Prem is developing multiple projects including a feature version of her AFI thesis film I Thought the Earth Remembered Me and a feature film about the California gold rush seen from a non-heteronormative, female perspective. Prem is committed to telling stories from the margins, stories that push the limits of genre and identity; stories that conjure connection and evoke change. www.premsantana.com
