As a child born in 1998, I had the privilege of experiencing film and television before the iPad had the opportunity to capture my young feeble little mind. What kept me captivated in my youth was the television and it’s tight grasp on me. So much so that the reason I learned the English language was through my viewing of SpongeBob. Growing up, I would find myself expecting to experience all sorts of things I had once seen on T.V. such as having to sneak through some building's ventilation system or hiding in some bushes waiting to jump someone who passes by in order to steal a disguise. All if not a good chunk of my personality derives from my exposure to T.V. and Film narratives as a youth and this allowed my mind to develop a passion for storytelling and creating narratives of my very own. To date I am constantly jotting down any and all ideas that pop through my head in order to pick and pull from them to create my stories. It also doesn't just stop with ideas because I also write down real-life things I experience or witness around me. All of my motivation comes from the real joys and hardships experienced in life. I find a lot of importance in understanding the many layers of life and applying them to my storytelling. Ultimately my drive comes from the desire of representation as I believe that narratives go beyond the big idea because what is compelling to watch are the truths of our experiences being validated and shared through media. Ultimately, the reason I have a passion for writing comes from the authentic joy and excitement that fills my heart and soul when simply talking about a project. Developing ideas, discussing them with my peers, and writing scripts excites me to no end because it is what I want to be doing as opposed to what I feel I have to be doing. There is something deeply magical to me about creating characters, settings, and narratives, and captivating those around me with my creations. Let’s create something TOGETHER 🫂
