www.keysoundproductions.com Daniel Hamuy, music director and founder of Keysound Productions, is an award-winning composer, orchestrator and music producer that has composed and arranged music for films, documentaries, TV and many acclaimed recording artists. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he has been residing in Los Angeles for 29 years, working with major studios in the entertainment industry. Throughout his career, Daniel has worked with some of the best orchestras and collaborated with legendary film composers such as David Newman, David Hirschfelder and Steve Bramson on blockbuster films such as The Flinstones 2, Nutty Professor 2, Jingle All The Way and The Waterboy among others. Recently, he scored the HBO rom-com In Other Words and the documentaries John Leguizamo’s Road to Broadway, winner of the Imagen Awards and Tales From a Ghetto Klown for PBS, winner of the Estela award. As a music producer, Daniel worked on multi-award winning film Under the Same Moon (a.k.a La Misma Luna), The Ramen Girl, America and The Five People you Meet in Heaven (John Voight and Ellen Burstyn). Daniel orchestrated, arranged and worked with the finest Hollywood orchestras as well as many other orchestras and musicians around the world, including Prague, Sofia, Hungary, Munich, Argentina and Puerto Rico. Among the many films he orchestrated are The Five People you Meet in Heaven, The Waterboy, In Enemy Hands, Big Mommas, Out to Sea, JAG (TV series) and Anastasia, for which he was nominated for best orchestration for the Fennecus award. You can hear Daniel’s songwriting in the song “No Hay Imposibles”, released on the CD of famous Latin artist CHAYANNE, which was named after Daniel’s song, later becoming platinum record and #1 US billboard top Latin album. Other songwriting credits include, the main song for the film Behind Enemy Lines 3: Colombia and songs for the new Argentinian tenor CD, Eduardo Bosio. Besides songwriting, he arranged and orchestrated for renowned recording artists all over the world, such as Rickie Lee jones, Rachelle Ferrell, Michael Kleitman, Chayanne, Facundo Monti (Argentina), Eduardo Bosio (Argentina), Marco Missinato (Italy), Maria Sorte (Mexico) and Latin American Duos (Germany) among others. In addition, he arranged and orchestrated for live performances. He orchestrated George Duke’s Dark Wood Bass Concerto for Christian McBride, world premiere in Los Angeles commissioned by the Symphonic Jazz Orchestra. Daniel also arranged for Victor Mendoza Big Band, Brian Lewis Big Band and is a composer and arranger in residence for Psych big band in Los Angeles. His arrangements of Piazzolla songs has been performed and recorded by recording artist such as Stephen Pollock, Paul Broadie, Lose Pipes sax quartet and Ken Radnosky sax quartet. After he moved from Boston to Los Angeles, his passion for computers and technology lead him to co-develop Powerkeys, a 500-shortcut keyboard template for Logic Pro, that helps to be more productive by working faster and easier. Quickly, Powerkeys became the choice of top VIP composers. He consulted and installed Powerkeys at composers such as Mark Isham, Bill Ross, David Newman, George Duke, Van Halen, Herbie Hancock, Michel Colombier, Peter Erskine, John Farrar, Joel Goldsmith, David Campbell and Lee Ritenour among many others. His deep knowledge of Logic and score, later led him to collaborate with many of them. While residing in Boston, Daniel was the leader, composer and arranger of The Eclectic Band, an 18 piece big band with whom he performed at the Berklee Performance Center and won the IAJE first prize in composition. Daniel is also a mentor and lecturer for NALIP (National Association of Latin Independent Producers) for over 10 years for the Latino Producers Academy and Latino Lens Programs, presenting young directors and producers a detailed introduction to film music including psychology of film music, timeline of the film music process, synchronization rights, publishing and music budgets. While studying at Berklee College he was commissioned by Herb Pomeroy to write a 10-minute piece for the Herb Pomeroy Concert Jazz Orchestra.
