Bio
I'm a Los Angeles based Director having specialized in long and short form content ranging from films, commercials and webseries. With an eye towards directing episodic television and feature films, my life's purpose is to give fellow artists, collaborators and brands the freedom to tell their stories in the most creative, unique and inspiring ways. I’ve always loved conversing with people and helping people. I’ve loved the arts and being creative nearly as long. I thrive in the opportunity to help guide a symphony of creative professionals toward the communal goal of visualizing a story. Directing speaks to my passion behind all of these things. Greg Payton is an Emmy winning Creative from Brooklyn, New York. A Director, Writer & Photographer nurtured through creativity, wisdom and discipline; he studied at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts learning from creative professionals such as Spike Lee, Sam Pollard, and Reed Morano. He worked with the creative minds of global advertising giant, Havas learning to usher big ideas from white board to broadcast. Greg took those skills to the steps of the Mayor of New York City's office in broadcasting, where he created content exploring the city’s ever evolving tourism, cuisine and lifestyle. In Los Angeles, Greg executed a digital series with reality series pioneer Bunim-Murray called Look Book, displaying the fashion and unique identities in New York, San Francisco and L.A.. Along with media mogul Sean Combs, Greg helped launch a new era in music television, Revolt T.V. . Working with legendary artists Queen Latifah, Common, Mary J. Blige and Chadwick Boseman, Greg also created content leading to his first Key Art Award for his work with musician, Gary Clark, Jr.. Most recently, he helped launch Spectrum News 1 and Los Angeles Times' series, "LA Times Today", giving a rare glimpse behind the headlines of the award-winning Los Angeles Times. Throughout, he’s dedicated his life to collaborating with artists, telling stories, and building brands directing short films and web series, producing sizzle reels and writing original T.V. pilots.
