Bio
Joyce Liu-Countryman is an Asian American producer, born and raised in the San Francisco climes of heavy fog, free speech and social justice. Her producing slate centers intersectional and underrepresented identities and her award-winning films have screened at festivals globally including the Los Angeles, Austin, Santa Barbara International, Outfest, Florence Queer, Skinsfest, and Los Angeles Asian Pacific American film festivals, and stream on Netflix, Hulu, Peacock and Amazon Prime. Her dark comedy short featuring Margaret Cho, A FAMILY GUIDE TO HUNTING, premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival. As an Associate Producer for documentaries, her work includes the Sundance premiere, THE GREATEST NIGHT IN POP, the Emmy-winning LIVE TO 100: THE SECRETS OF THE BLUE ZONES, and the Emmy-nominated TEMPLE OF FILM: 100 YEARS OF THE EGYPTIAN THEATER. Joyce was a 2023 Film Independent Project Involve Creative Executive Fellow and recipient of the LA Media Fund Fellowship. She’s also been a Women in Film Mentee, and a mentor for the Group Effort Initiative and Hollywood Radio and Television Society. Joyce holds a producing MFA from the American Film Institute Conservatory, an MS in clinical psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and pursued doctoral studies in psychology from the University of Hawai’i.
