Jamal Wade

Jamal Wade is a director and choreographer for film and music videos, but also creative force in the world of dance and theater. His artistic journey was ignited in his high school years when he began dancing on scholarship with the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre. He honed in further on this new gift under the guidance of the legendary Debbie Allen, performing in several of her stage productions. Jamal's passion for the performing arts led him to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, where he earned his BFA in Dance Theatre. As a choreographer and movement coach, Jamal’s talent for bringing out expressive and provocative performances were made evident in his collaborations with artists such as Josh Dean, Ambre, and Ari Lennox. His directorial style is a reflection of his dance background, capturing the essence of life and the beauty of movement in even the stillest moments. His portfolio includes mesmerizing work for Lady London, Tinashe, Sevyn Streeter, and Willie Jones. His work on Jones' "American Dream" video earned him a nomination for Video of the Year at the CMT Country Music Awards. Identifying as a queer Black artist, Jamal is resolute in his mission to empower minorities and amplify the voices of the underrepresented. He hopes to continue to create art that serves as platform to influence, inspire, and instigate change.
