Mattan Hamou

Mattan Hamou is a screen and tv writer, short film producer, advertising leader, and MFA graduate of the Department of Dramatic Writing at NYU Tisch. Mattan's writing most often explores family drama and romance in genre fiction, from sci-fi to westerns to thrillers and beyond. He draws inspiration and insight from his work experience as a stem cell researcher and from his advertising portfolio. Mattan's passion for writing intimate moments that push and pull characters earned him the 2021 Sloan Writing Award at NYU for the feature script The Fearfully Great, which is currently circulating at festivals. His next script in development, Copycats, is a limited series pilot that explores the CDC investigation on teen suicides that occured at Palo Alto high schools in 2015. Mattan's short film, Astor & Kiko, is a romantic comedy currently in post-production that tells the story of a young couple discovering and embracing their partners' embarrassing kinks. As a short film producer Mattan works with emerging talent, providing resources, production experience, and creative direction in taking concepts from script to screen. When not developing narrative projects, Mattan leads a growing ad agency in Los Angeles servicing e-commerce and entertainment clients. Mattan unwinds by traveling with his father on cross-country motorcycle adventures, rising the ranks of online competitive chess, and playing with his German Shepherd, Alf.
