Bio

Ben Weiss is a New York-based writer, who recently received his MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU Tisch, where he won the Special Award Across Media for his work writing for film, television, and theatre. Ben holds a Bachelor’s in theatre from Northwestern University, where he graduated summa cum laude. His screenplay Safe Havens recently placed among the top 50 screenplays for the Academy Nicholl Fellowship out of over 8,100 submissions. He was a finalist for the 2021 Humanitas David and Lynn Angells Comedy Fellowship for his half-hour pilot Unpopular, while his dramatic features Thick Skin and Safe Havens were shortlisted for the Carol Mendelsohn Drama Fellowship in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Ben’s work tends to feature queer friendships and relationships, self-destructive twenty-somethings, and tonal blends of comedy and drama. Currently, he writes sketches for Puppet Regime, a political sketch comedy series that airs weekly on GZERO World with Ian Bremmer on PBS. He can be reached at ben.weiss789@gmail.com.
