Bio

Recently selected as one of the Top 25 Writers to Watch in 2024 by the International Screenwriters Association, Kathryn Orwig is a neurodiverse author, poet, and screenwriter from Northern Michigan. Growing up financially struggling in a small midwestern town, Kathryn writes primarily adventure dramas where the characters work together to survive impossible odds. She has won or placed highly in multiple screenwriting competitions (Next 100 Scripts Nicholl’s, Page Awards, Austin Film Festival, Roadmap’s Shorts Grand Prize Winner, Roadmap’s Top 50 Top Tier Competition, and Roadmap’s Diversity July 2021 Winner, etc.), acted as a final-round judge at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth in 2019, and wrote 20 animation scripts for a start-up media company. Besides writing, she enjoys spending hours researching long-dead ancestors and learning their languages such as Russian, Scottish Gaelic, Polish, and Swedish, among others.
