Ally May

Writer-Director Ally May experienced childhood trauma, abuse and violence. In this environment she turned to movies for comfort and learned to tell herself stories. Later, she started telling other people her stories, which led to a BA in American Literature with a focus on Cinema. Ally also attended the UCLA Writing Program, the Academy of Film Writing and other writing programs.She attended SF Film School, the Directing Actors Workshops, the Sundance Directing Program and has just completed a six month intensive on visual filmmaking. Ally’s short film, the thriller THE LAST PICTURE, currently in the festival circuit, has up 37 nominations and awards. Ally films have placed in many notable festivals including the Oscar qualifying Flicker Rhode Island International Film Fest, HollyShorts Festival, Catalina Film Festival and recently she won Best Narrative Short in the Toronto International Women Film Festival and Best Director in Female Feedback Film Festival. Ally’s brand of story-telling is haunting thrillers and dramas with emotionally stunted characters.
