I vowed instantly never to live up to such a distasteful appellation, for I knew quite well from the vast trove of literature and film that little maids seldom, if ever, became the heroines of their own adventures. And so, I set about conjuring up my own stories full of swashbuckling princess-knights. Imagine my boundless relief once I learned I had misheard my mother and that, in fact, my name meant "little May" – that merriest of all the months. Fast forward to 2023—I still write tales for the "little maids" of the world and for the young girls who secretly dreamed of jousting with the prince and marrying the princess. :)
