Amanda Morell

Amanda Morell is an independent filmmaker and editor based in Bronx, New York. Her short films include, Remembrance, Vivir and Serenity Prayer. The Bronx-native of Dominican and Puerto Rican heritage works in the spaces where nature meets emotion, rhythmically seeking to understand the cyclical wounding of remembering. Her work employs an aesthetic inspired by mysticism and magical realism to wade in the muddy waters of suppressed or forgotten human emotion and memory. Her films have been supported by the Lift-off Global Network First Time Filmmakers Session and Elizabeth foundation for the Arts*. Her post-production work has been supported by Brooklyn Information and Culture (BRIC) and Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), The Oregon Documentary film festival and The Martha's Vineyard African American film festival. In addition to extensive work as an independent filmmaker and editor, Morell completed specialized post-production training through Made in New York. Her most recent work, “Sisters By Water ; A Caribbean-American coming-of-age story. Two best friends, bonded by a shared fear of getting into the ocean, heal generational fears through the intimacy of sisterhood. This film received honor of a special screening at the TCL theater in Los Angeles, CA. Aside from her personal work experiences, Amanda has also worked in the Post Production world acquiring credits as a Post PA for Season 2 and 3 of Apple TV Series, "SEE" and HBOMAX "WARRIOR" Season 3.
