Jennifer McGrew

Jennifer works as a designer, art department contractor and producer. She's known for Alien Country (2021), Stay Out of the F**king Attic (2020), On the Day that I Died (2020), Flight From Shadow (2013) and Gnashing (2013). She and her studio partners have specialized for decades in unique design and fabrication for the entertainment industries. Among celebrity clients are Verne Troyer, Adrian Paul, Larry Wilmore, producers Felix & Paul, director James Merendino and Broadway legend Candese Marchese. Jennifer is by training and trade a skilled cutter-draper-pattern-maker who loves researching and building period costumes. She was born in Las Vegas to Air Force parents who worked at the Nevada Test Site (Area 51). Her father used science to determine if the Soviets were cheating on nuclear testing agreements, while Jennifer and her childhood friends abducted household items to make costumes, props, sets and puppets. For more than a decade through 2010, she developed and taught university courses in writing, theater and education. Jennifer returns periodically to campuses to teach and design. Her shop hosts college interns every semester, and she gives workshops about design ethics to business and academic groups. Her MA in Performance Studies is from NYU. Her MFA in Costume Design and BA in English are both from her studies in Utah.
