Bio

Most of my success making documentary films for almost 30 years is due to skills I learned as an undergrad drama student at the Experimental Theatre Wing acting studio at Tisch School of the Arts/NYU. I found the beginnings of my voice as an all-around artist there, and was taught how to "get shit done" no matter the obstacles. It also helped enormously that the end of the 80s in NYC was a magical time. I am a self-taught videographer, video editor, and graphic designer but was trained as a producer and scriptwriter on the job at various organizations including Oxygen Media, Lifetime, WGBH, ABC, 3Net, and Discovery, to name a few. My first film, "Soma Girls," about a home for the daughters of sex workers in Kolkata, West Bengal, had 60% carriage on PBS nationwide, including the venerable WGBH in Boston. Currently, I'm wrapping up my latest film - about the need for balanced cultural representation on television - while nurturing a love affair with all things 3D filmmaking, 3D modeling, photogrammetry, VR, and AR for the higher ed space. Thanks for reading!
