Erin Macdonald

Erin Macdonald is a tattooed astrophysicist who brings a STEM career panel's worth of experience (including years spent in Glasgow, Scotland on her PhD) to the page. Originally wanting to become a scientist because of those she saw on the screen, she eventually realized her true calling in creating those characters for future generations of kids interested in STEM. She has been working in television since 2018 and has worked closely with over a dozen writers rooms and productions, technically as a science advisor but has been able to contribute to pitches, story ideas, and develop outlines with episode writers. She loves writing character-driven ensemble science fiction with strong female and underrepresented characters. With a strong work ethic and samples ranging from half-hour comedy to historical features (as well, of course, science fiction) she is passionate about helping a showrunner realize their vision and find heart and humor in stories. She lives in Los Angeles with her Viking husband and in addition to writing enjoys playing video games, crafting, hiking, and drinking whisky.
