Joanna Karselis

Jo is a full member of BAFTA. She's a multi award and competition winning composer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer-songwriter working across film, game, theatre, and other media. Her immersive composition method involves experimenting with and manipulating sound in unusual ways inspired by her background in contemporary classical music. She has scored experimental documentary feature REUNIFICATION, feminist thriller feature THE BELLWETHER, arthouse feature 5 SOUTH (all available on Amazon Prime) and THE HAUNTING OF THE LADY JANE (currently playing festivals and coming soon to VOD), as well as 30 shorts including the award winning films 51 STATES and GROUND RUSH. Her upcoming slate includes feminist fantasy drama SUFFER, the contemporary LGBTQ+ re-imagining of Romeo and Juliet GONE WITH THE FIRE, and the short LGBTQ+ Vogue film REALNESS WITH A TWIST. She regularly self-performs on her scores and has a selection of traditional and unusual instruments that feature in her work. From June 2019 to July 2022 Jo was part of BAFTA Crew X BFI Network. Facilities she has mixed her music in include Warner Brothers’ De Lane Lea and Twickenham Film Studios. She was a judge for the BAFTA TV Awards 2023. Her music has appeared across BBC TV and radio, and been used on global TV networks.
