Bio
Jeannette Godoy is a first generation, Mexican American director and writer. She started her career as a choreographer where she worked in film, television and commercials. She is most widely known for having choreographed the hit music video, Baby Got Back, by Sir Mix A Lot. Amongst many other projects around the world, she also choreographed the film, CB4, starring Chris Rock and the Tejano Music Awards featuring Selena. She recently celebrated the release of her first feature film, a Latina led comedy. Diamond in the Rough, is currently streaming on Peacock and premiered at the 2023 NY Latino Film Festival. She also directed an episode of The Garcias for HBO Max. Jeannette created and directed a short series for Bumble. Pure Corazón follows 3 Latinx daters from different cultural backgrounds as they courageously navigate dating, life, and identity. This semi scripted series had over 1 million views in it’s first days being released. She also directed the cold open for the HBO Max Ha Comedy Festival. Starring Latino legend, Danny Trejo, and rising Latinx actress, Isabella Alvarez, the comedic piece opened the successful festival. Jeannette was recently selected for the 2023 Netflix Directors on the Rise cohort and is a member of the prestigious DGA WSC Squad. She was chosen for the Sony Pictures TV Diverse Directors Program as well as the Black Magic Collective’s Breakthrough Initiative. For over ten years, Jeannette has directed commercials for numerous brands including Nike, Bumble, Meta and more. She’s received several prestigious nominations including the Young Director Award at Cannes, as well as SHOOT Magazine’s New Director’s Showcase. She is represented by David Saunders and Halle Mariner at Independent Artists Group and Scott Schulman Management for feature/tv directing and writing. She lives in Los Angeles has twin daughters who just graduated from college.
